Comment
In 2007, four in every 1,000 children and young people were recorded as protected persons and granted a Domestic Apprehended Violence Order in NSW.
The rate was consistently higher for females than males (in 2007: 4.4 per 1,000 for females compared with 3.5 for males).
The rate varies with age, and has been consistently highest among 15-17 year olds (in 2007: 5.8 per 1,000 15-17 year olds).
The rate was consistently lower for children and young people living in the Sydney Statistical Division. In 2007, the rate in the Sydney Statistical Division was 2.1 compared with 7.1 for the rest of NSW.
Overall, from 2003 to 2007, the rate in the Sydney Statistical Division has decreased while the rate for the rest of NSW has increased.
