The rate of protected persons granted a Domestic Apprehended Violence Order showed a marked increase from 1996 to 2001. The biggest increases during this time were seen among infants <1 year and 1-4 year olds, followed by 5-9 year olds and 10-14 year olds.

From 2003 to 2006, the rate of protected persons granted a Domestic Apprehended Violence Order decreased for most age groups, except the 15-17 year olds.

The rate of protected persons granted a Domestic Apprehended Violence Order increased for all age groups between 2006 and 2007.  The greatest increase between 2006 and 2007 was for the 15-17 year old age group.  For infants there has been a steady increase from 2005 to 2007.
