A youth-led forum on youth homelessness was held on Wednesday, 5 August 2009 during Homeless Persons Week.
40 young people and 20 workers and decision-makers from across the state joined together to speak about their experiences of homelessness, and ways of preventing kids from becoming homeless.
The Hon Graham West MP, Minister for Youth, Minister for Juvenile Justice and Minister for Volunteering opened the forum which was facilitated during the day by Gillian Calvert, Commissioner for Children and Young People.

The Forum was organised by young people and the Youth Advisory Council, with representatives from the NSW Commission for Children and Young People, Youth Accommodation Association, the Salvation Army, the Inspire Foundation and the Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies.
In the lead-up to the forum the Commission and partners also spoke with over 100 young people about their experiences of homelessness.
