Kids Poll Results - First half of 2008

Is climate change a big issue for you?
From the 65 votes, the issue of climate change was seen as important by most kids. Kids showed in the voting and in their comments that they knew and understood many of the issues that are discussed in the media and by government about climate change.

When should kids get their first mobile phone?
From the 48 votes, most votes picked ’16 years or older’. The kids who voted said that age should be just one important factor when making this decision. Other factors should include milestones like when someone starts high school.

Things about my local park
From the 43 votes, most kids that voted agreed that the toilets and bubblers need to be made better but liked the amount of space parks had. The questions that got the most votes were, parks had enough space and were easy to get to.

When should you be able to get a piercing without your parents' permission?
From the 29 votes, the kids who voted said that young people should be at least 16 years old to get a piercing without their parents’ permission. However, there was the same amount of people voting 16 years old as there was against it. So the poll showed that kids should be able to get a piercing without their parents’ permission but no one agreed on a particular age.

What should be the school leaving age?
From the 68 votes, there seems to be good support for either maintaining the current school leaving age, or increasing it to 16 years old.
