Alcohol abuse summit - NSW Commission for Children and Young People

A Summit on Alcohol Abuse was held at NSW Parliament House in August 2003.

Leading up to the Summit the Commission spoke with young people around NSW about their experiences with alcohol and what they think is important about alcohol for young people, their families and their communities.

The Young People and Alcohol Forum

The Commission held an Alcohol Forum for young people the day before the Summit and 58 young people aged 13 to 22 years from around NSW took part. They came up with practical suggestions, called Resolutions, to take to the Summit.

At the Summit several young people presented their views and the views of the young people who participated in the Alcohol Forum. Follow the links below to read what they said.

Rohan Williams and Zeah Behrend tabled the resolutions from the Young People and Alcohol Forum.
Dorian Sarkissian, Kaila Murnain, Zeah Behrend and Ahmed Abdo presented their views on alcohol abuse and misuse by young people.
Josh Elliott and Emily Andrijic spoke about ways to inform and engage the community about issues relating to alcohol and young people.
