In 2004 the Australian Government started to put together a National Plan of Action to improve the lives of children and young people in Australia. The Government asked us to talk with children and young people to find out what they think about living in Australia, what makes it good or not so good and what could be done to make their lives better.

The Australian Government released a report on A World Fit for Children at the end of 2007.
As part of the plan we talked with more than 500 kids aged 5 -17 years through focus groups in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia and also had an online survey on our website. Here’s what kids had to say about:
- People around us
- Education
- Health
- Things to do
- Environment
- Safety and security
- Having a say
- Culture and opportunities
A big thank you to all the children and young people who shared their views and ideas.
