  • Child Centred Research

This seminar explored how children and young people can be involved in research.

The seminar examined:

  • A brief history and the current work of the National Children’s Bureau;
  • Examples of child centred research projects that include the views and perspectives of children;
  • Participation in practice: Case studies of the impact children and young people’s participation has had in policy development and service delivery and planning; and
  • The involvement of children and young people in the decision-making process.

The keynote speaker was Dr Ruth Sinclair, Director of Research at the UK National Children’s Bureau. The Bureau promotes the voices, interests and well-being of all children and young people across England and Northern Ireland . Prior to working with the Bureau Dr Sinclair was a Research Fellow at Loughborough University and Head of Research and Evaluation in Leicestershire Social Services Department.
