The seminar focused on refining our understanding of bullying- looking at why people bully, how we can work better with bullies and the importance of teaching practice and school leadership in the development of positive relationships at school.
The Commission presented a seminar in March 2004 to investigate bullying and what can be done to prevent it.
Dr Ken Rigby, who is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Social Psychology and an educational consultant based at the University of South Australia, talked about bullying in schools, what can cause it and what can be done about it.
Mr Graeham Kennedy, the NSW Department of Education and Training's Regional Director, Student Welfare, talked about what is being done in the public school system to address bullying.
Ms Christine Taylor, Principal of Cammeray Public School, along with four students, talked about what they are doing in their school to prevent bullying.
