Parents and carers should also seek identification, such as a driver's licence, from any self-employed person they are engaging to work with children - and make sure that this identification matches with their Certificate. Parents and carers can then verify that the self-employed person's Certificate is valid using the form below.

Each certificate has a unique number.  You can use this number to check that the certificate is valid. First, enter the certificate number in the verification form below.  When you click 'Submit', the name of the self employed person should then be displayed.

If no name appears, or the wrong name appears, check the number and try entering it again. If you still don’t get the name you expect, or get a message saying there is no Certificate with that number, tell the self employed person there is a problem.

It would be wise to wait until they have sorted out the problem with their certificate before you engage them.
